Process
This is generally how I approach a project. Every project is different, and the process adapts to the people, goals, and constraints involved.
Steps
-
1. Conversation
Every project starts with a conversation. We talk through your goals, uncertainties, and any existing constraints. Early on, my focus is on listening, asking questions, and understanding the project before proposing solutions.
-
2. Understanding the Site and Context
I review the site, existing conditions, zoning, and relevant technical or regulatory factors. This establishes what is possible and provides a clear foundation for design decisions.
-
3. Design Development
Design is an iterative and creative process. This is where we explore ideas, test options, and work through both what we want to do and how to do it. Through drawings, studies, and ongoing conversation, ideas are refined into a clear direction.
-
4. Documentation and Coordination
Once a direction is set, I prepare the documentation needed for permitting and construction. I work closely with engineers and consultants to produce clear, coordinated drawings that communicate intent and support construction.
-
5. Construction Support
During construction, I stay involved to answer questions, review submittals, and help resolve issues as they arise, keeping the work moving forward and aligned with the construction drawings.
-
6. Follow Up
One year after completion, I check back in to review the work and make sure everything is performing as intended.
